I would recommend that you first replace the disk and get that working. Then do a reinstall of SBS over the top of the existing installation so you don't have to worry about resetting up AD or the mailboxes.
For safety I would use Exmerge to save a copy of the mail. Also if you put the users in Cached mode they will have a second backup on their workstations. Bere in mind that no changes were made to vpn settings before problem occurred. Any suggestions here? Really need to get vpn working again. Join our community to see this answer! We give our time freely to support the SBS community! I ran the rarepair utility to no avail. All that it did was disabel my remote desktop.
As I have determined, the only thing that doesn't work is the VPN. Everything else is working perfect. So, for an another machine.. I removed the "Routing and Remote Access" service using Dameware utils on Google, I found a thread wehre someone said this service may cause this. Apparently, the problem was on of the MS Exchange services.. I was hoping to restore the RAS servie by a registry hack if possible.
Any ideas? I don't think demoting it is possible unless, perhaps, via third-party tools - as you seem to have tried. I don't know of any 'hack' to fix the other 'hacks' you have performed
